Designed to sit within the block of modernist mid-rise buildings that bifurcate historic Old Pasadena and the City's Civic Center District, the architecture of the restaurant was charged to mediate between the barren-sidewalked mid-rise block and its highly pedestrian neighboring blocks.

This was achieved with an aggressively-scaled single-story pavilion building whose tall-gridded glass walls reprise the modernist tradition of the block, albeit, at a scale that embraces the City's pedestrian life.

This embrace is additionally furthered by the side-walk adjacent dining porches on both the adjoining streets of this corner building.
